The Challenge: Lose as much body fat and gain as much muscle as you can in 90 days.
The Winner: The winner takes home $250 in cash or $325 in store credit.
The Plan: Four WLC Nutrition Sessions, InBody Scans, Sunday Check-ins, and the best community to support you. $250 is some nice bonus motivation too.
Basic ticket includes:
- Opening Ceremonies is Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10AM which includes an InBody Scan and 30 minute Nutrition Lab Session
- Weight Loss Challenge Finale is November 19 at 10AM
- Four 30-Minute WLC Nutrition Chats (Thursdays at 7PM-7:30PM)
- Measuring Tape &Â Sunday Online Check-ins
- Closing Ceremony November 19, 2023 at 10AM includes an array of healthy catered food from Whole Foods and our Raffle.

The InBody scan is not a separately schedulable service if you can’t attend the opening ceremony or a WLC Nutrition chat.
Raffle Prize:
All members in attendance during the Closing Ceremony are eligible to win our Raffle Prize. The raffle prize is a 2-Pood Gym Backpack. Members may also purchase additional raffle tickets when they register to improve their odds of winning.
The challenge winner takes home a cash prize of $250 or $325 in store credit.
Winning: like Survivor you’ll need to make your case to the jury (that’s everyone else in attendance at the Finale) as to why you should be our 2023 Weight Loss Champion and take home the $250 cash prize. Each person will be provided 2-3 minutes to present why you think you should be the winner. In order to be eligible to win, you’ll need to send us a weight loss bio to be in the running to win. Your competition bio can include 1-3 pictures, a video, weight loss chart, and/or a summary of your successes and challenges on the 2023 weight loss challenge. Other factors the jury will consider includes how many weight loss sessions you attended and your Sunday check-in history. Pics and/or video are very influential to other members to vote for you. Most people are happy to share their progress pictures once they have made the journey, but it’s not a requirement. You’ll want to take your before photos either way. It’ll be up to you whether you share them.
This Year there will be an extra Jury vote from the Sand & Steel Membership. Sand and Steel Members will be able to vote based on your bios. The member with the most votes win the extra jury vote.

Can I attend the Nutrition Lab Sessions without registering for the Weight Loss Challenge?
Yes, we sell nutrition lab separately.
Do I have to take pictures of myself to participate in the contest?
We are hoping your progress photos will inspire others to take a first step toward weight loss. That said, photos are not required to participate. However, your photos will play a large part in whether you win the contest and the cash prize. But for many people, losing 20-30 pounds is the real prize.
What if I can’t make it on the opening ceremony?
You can still enroll, you’ll just miss the InBody scan and WLC Nutrition Session.
What are the Official Rules?
Every member that registers for this event may participate in the challenge. The winner will be chosen based on a popular vote of your overall improvement, your community engagement, and support of others.
Are there makeups if I need to miss the WLC Nutrition Session or an InBody scan?
No, there are no makeups.
Will the Nutrition Session be Available online or via Live Stream?
Yes, there will be an online version available if you cannot attend in person
What’s the difference between Nutrition Lab and WLC Nutrition Session
WLC Nutrition Session are mini versions of some of the key lectures from Nutrition Lab.
What do you plan on covering in WLC Nutrition Session?
- Lesson 1: Target Calories, Macros, and Goal Setting
- Lesson 2: Building a Healthy Meal for Weight Loss
- Lesson 3: Travel Tips while dieting
- Lesson 4: Restaurants and dieting
What if I don’t have a lot of weight to lose?
The goal of the competition is to improve your body composition. So our jury very well might vote for someone who can add 6 pounds of muscle and drop 6 pounds of fat. It’s all about your story and your participation in the community.
Do I have to submit a Weight Loss Bio to be in the Finale?
- All Sand and Steel Members can vote in the Finale (either in person or online). Online votes will tallied and the person with the most votes will get the Online Vote. You can vote online and in-person.
- To be a Finalist in the Weight Loss Challenge, you must submit a Weight Loss Bio by the due date.

Paul’s 90 Day Results (from 2022 Weight Loss Challenge)
It’s been 90 days since I started the Nutrition Lab diet. I’m dialed in, I’m pushing hard, and I’m staying with it until I reach my goal of 165. So join me this January, as we do it again! – Coach Paul
Nutrition is More Than Weight Loss
In August 2022, I knew Sand & Steel needed to bring back the Nutrition Coaching Program I coached from 2013-2019. As a coach, I never ask anything from my clients that I would not do myself. And so that meant, I needed to buckle down and start following my own diet, and I am glad I did.
- Weight Loss: In the 90 days, I lost 22 lbs of body fat and put on 4 pounds of muscle mass. Yielding a net result of -18 lbs. I feel better and I perform better.
- Performance: But the biggest surprise to me is how much eating better helped my workout performance. I saw about a 25% improvement in my workouts in the first 30 days. Imagine that, performing better when you eat better. Shocking, but most people don’t appreciate how this matters. If you workout better, you can build more muscle.
- Mobility: I feel better and my mobility has improved. For the first time every, I’m able to do Side Crow in Yoga. That doesn’t sound like much, but I have attempted and failed to do that pose for 5 plus years.
- Competitions: I also finished 15 out of 140 people in the Spartan Sprint and completed 100% of the obstacles.

Sand & Steel Offers Personal Training, Nutrition Coaching, Semi-Private Training, and CrossFit Classes to help you get into shape. Since diet is a big part of weight loss, we will be offering Nutrition Lab every other Thursday at 7PM to assist you in your weight loss journey.
