Hike and Brew

Hike and Brew 2021

Hike Length: 9 Miles.  This is a longer hike requiring a pace of about 2 MPH to finish in 5.5 hours. Our upcoming Wine Hike in September will be shorter (under six miles.)  This hike will feature three-stream crossings (over a footbridge) and a total elevation change of more than 3,000 feet.

Brewery

We’ll be going to an award-winning brewery very close to this trail (less than a ten-minute drive away.)  They have indoor and outdoor seating, plus great food and many beer choices.

Travel Distance and Time

Hike Date: Saturday: August 7, 2021

The trailhead is about 70 minutes from Sand & Steel.  Anyone needing a carpool just needs to let us know.  Since this is a longer hike, we’ll begin the hike at 7:30AM.  You’ll want to arrive at the parking lot of the trailhead by 7:00AM.  You may or may not have cellphone service.  We’ll email you with GPS coordinates for the parking lot of the trailhead.  Parking fee is $3 per car, so bring some cash.  We recommend you leave from the gym at 5:30AM so that you arrive on time easily.

Food and Water

Sand & Steel will supply each hiker with 3 liters of bottled water, 3 granola bars (various brands, flavors, and vegan options), 2 Beef Sticks (various flavors), and 2 servings of trail mix (individually wrapped).  We’ll do a Costco run for everyone that has registered — so you won’t need to worry about food or water for the trip.

The Brewery will have plenty of food options after the hike.

You’ll get a full itinerary with your registration including a PDF Trail Map, an interactive trail map for your phone, directions to the parking lot (plus GPS coordinates), directions to the brewery, etc, links for current weather information, and everything you need to make the trip fun and stress-free.
