Paul On “Why I Teach Private Yoga”

When I teach people how to do yoga I empower them.  Teaching yoga and seeing my clients improve is a tremendously rewarding experience.  I love getting down into the trenches with them and getting the burn that only yoga really can provide.  Teaching one-on-one allows me to customize each flow to the student creating a much better experience.  I can lead, cue, and modify each pose.  Move Better… Build Strength … and Just Feel Better with Yoga.

I cannot say enough great things about Sand & Steel Fitness! I came into the gym as a stressed out couch potato – between work stress and recovery from surgery, I was about as sedentary as they come. With the help of Paul and Dawn, I feel better every day!

Paul was a rock star from day one, scaling every exercise to challenge me, and build my confidence and strength from workout to workout. And Dawn keeps me laughing as i steadily make progress.

What I love is the constant support and encouragement. I love working with all of the coaches – they each have a slightly different style that keep workouts interesting, challenging and new.

What I love more is the positive energy, encouragement and sense of purpose that all of the coaches have. I am a Sand & Steel super fan after 3 months. 20 lbs lost, self confidence found, and building strength and confidence every day! I turn 55 in 4 months, and it will be my best year ever with my Sand & Steel coaches at my side!!

In addition to personal training sessions, I have also had nutritional counseling, yoga, and mobility sessions with Paul and have found them all to be integral to my weight-loss progress. I have been training at Sand & Steel Fitness for about three months and am quite pleased with the progress I have made. I have had training sessions with almost all of the trainers and have found them all to be fantastic-teaching proper form and holding you to it and adapting workouts to fit your capabilities and needs. Doing everything through Sand & Steel Fitness has been really beneficial-during my personal training sessions, we discovered that I had some flexibility and balance issues, and it was addressed through dedicated mobility sessions. This sort of synergy has been characteristic of my experience at Sand & Steel Fitness.

I first started at Sand & Steel in January after committing myself to getting healthier, and I am so happy I went with them. From the start, it was clear that Paul and Dawn cared about each individual client’s needs, ensuring they felt their goals were identified and structuring the training plan to meet those goals. As a person with certain health limitations, they were very understanding and encouraging, demonstrating I could still meet my goals.

After training for a few months, I also decided to give the nutrition counseling a try, and that has made all the difference. Being able to approach my goals from multiple angles in a single place where I trust the expertise of everyone I’m working with has been the key to my success, and I’ve started to see results here I’ve never gotten with other gyms or programs.

All of the trainers are fantastic, the space and location is perfect for me, and the schedule flexibility really supports so many schedules.

No joke, Paul’s yoga sessions are challenging, but oh so satisfying. He builds the program based on your level of understanding and capability of what movement you can do. I came into this class at first thinking, “I’m good, I can do this.” and it morphed into, “Um…WOW! I didn’t know I could do that.”. Again, no joke I left after my fourth session of private yoga session able to do a bow pose. I looked like a bow while I held my feet behind my back. Paul, again, will modify your session so you are able to make it through your workout but will challenge you as well so you can build the capability of what you can and eventually will be doing much more easier.
Another thing I loved about this was the fact that there was plenty of space to work out and stretch out. I didn’t feel like I was going to kick anybody while I was stretching out. I’m glad to also see they are bringing on new yoga coaches as well, I’m excited to try them out as well because it’s always great to experience the different styles of teaching that each coach can offer. This is one of the best and most equipped yoga classes I have been to in quite some time and I’m looking forward to doing many more yoga sessions here.
