Let’s Crush 2025: Setting SMART & FAST Goals to Conquer Your Fitness Journey!

Hey everyone, it’s Paul from Sand and Steel Fitness, and I’m fired up for 2025! As we kick off a new year, I’m excited to help each of you crush your health and fitness goals in our CrossFit OnRamp, Challenger, Mobility Lab, and Nutrition Lab programs. But to do that, I need your help!

My Mission: Tailoring Your Fitness Experience

To make this year your best yet, I want to tailor our sessions to your specific needs and aspirations. To do that, I need to know what you want to accomplish! So, please take a moment to share your goals with me. It helps me design workouts and provide the coaching you need to succeed.

Fueling the Fire: My 2025 Goals

To get those goal-setting wheels turning, I want to share my personal fitness targets for 2025. This is me putting myself out there and leading by example:

  1. Increase my Clean and Jerk to 275lbs: My current PR is 235lbs. I believe I have the raw strength for 275, but I’ll need to really focus on refining my technique to make it happen.
  2. Complete 20 Muscle-Ups in Under 10 Minutes: I’ve hit 15 before, but each rep gets progressively tougher. This one is going to require some serious grit and determination!
  3. Weigh Less Than 175lbs by the Start of the 2025 CrossFit Open: I’m currently at 185lbs, but I know dropping 10 pounds will make me faster and more agile.
  4. Complete 100 Calories on the Echo Bike in Under 7 Minutes: The Echo Bike has been my nemesis, but I’m going all-in to shave a full minute and twenty seconds off my personal best.

Your Turn: Setting SMART & FAST Goals

Now it’s your turn! When setting your goals, remember to make them SMART and FAST:

SMART Goals:

  • Specific: What exactly do you want to achieve? Don’t just say “get stronger.” Instead, say “increase my back squat by 50lbs.”
  • Measurable: How will you track your progress? Use numbers or metrics that you can quantify.
  • Achievable: Challenge yourself, but be realistic. Setting goals that are too far out of reach can be demotivating.
  • Relevant: Ensure your goals align with your overall health and fitness aspirations.
  • Timebound: Set a deadline! This creates a sense of urgency and keeps you focused.

FAST Goals:

  • Frequently Talked About: Share your goals with your friends, family, and your coaches (me!). This builds accountability and support.
  • Ambitious: Don’t be afraid to push yourself beyond your comfort zone. This is where real growth happens!
  • Specific: (Yes, it’s that important, it’s in both!) Clarity is key. Be crystal clear about what you want to achieve.
  • Transparent: Be honest with yourself and others about your progress, both the wins and the setbacks.
