Yoga Classes Alexandria VA. Alignment Class. Master the 88 Most Essential Yoga Poses in our class Alexandria VA. If you want to get strong at yoga, these are poses to practice first. We start each class covering both the scaled and standard variation of each base pose. Then we scale the difficulty up or down so that you have an appropriately challenging pose to your unique body.
Yoga Alignment Classes – Alexandria VA Studio
There are many, many poses in yoga. I personally use about 400 poses in our Vinyasa Flow Classes in our Yoga Studio in Alexandria VA. Before you can flow (transition) well, you need to master the base poses. The following poses — the base poses — are foundation poses. These hardworking, fundamental poses are the poses you need to know. Poses you need to master. I focus heavily on teaching these fundamental 88 poses in the flows I create for clients. There is no reason to do fancier poses until you have mastered these poses.
Take it from a professional coach with over 25 personal certifications, master your fundamentals first, because it’s really the sexy, made-for-Instagram poses that will get you injured.
Alignment Yoga Classes Alexandria VA is about learning to do poses correctly. I care more about what I look like on the beach and how I feel, than what I look like at home when I train. Don’t you? So keep it safe, and build some total-body strength with some real functional yoga poses.
In fact, some of these poses might too advanced for you at this time. All of these poses have value, but be sure to have a certified yoga instructor watch you perform these poses before you try them out at home.

For those that think they know yoga, and many absolutely do, this is a really good challenge for all. This goes back to basics, expands on it then takes you down a wild rabbit hole of stretching you didn’t think you were able to do. You start simple with the basics, as described, and then improve with different challenging variations as you progress the more you attend this class. For any members that have been here for a while to new members who know a basic idea of how to do yoga, this is a great challenge for all ages. I’m already scheduling my next few classes.
