Predictions for the 2023 CrossFit Open based on current programming preferences from CrossFit HQ, the history of CrossFit Open exercises, the CrossFit Journal, CrossFit Open Equipment List, and CrossFit social media.

CrossFit Open 2023 Exercises (High Probability)

85-100% Confidence that we’ll see these exercises at these weights

  1. Rowing
  2. Wall Balls (20/14) at 10’/9’
  3. Burpee Wall Walk
  4. Ring Muscle Ups (Chest to Bar for intermediate)
  5. Barbell Snatch or Barbell Clean 135/95
  6. Barbell Thrusters
  7. Dumbbell Snatches 70/50, Dumbbell Thrusters (I hope not) or Dumbbell Shoulders to Overhead
  8. Kettlebell American Swings 70/53
  9. Toes 2 Bar
  10. Double Unders
  11. Box Jumps or Box Jump Overs

Possible, but less likely

I’d be surprised to see more than two of these exercises pop-up

  1. Dumbbell Clean and Press
  2. Kettlebell Goblet Squats 70/53
  3. Dumbbell Clean and Jerk (might be better than the snatch)
  4. Burpee Box Jumps (don’t think we’ll see this one.)
  5. Ring Dips & Bar Muscle ups
  6. Deadlifts (not likely since rowing is almost guaranteed)
  7. Burpees
  8. Wall Walks
  9. Step Ups

CrossFit Workout Predictions

Even tougher to guess than the exercises are the WODS.  We’ll see how close I get.

Open Workout 23.1 (predicted)

For Time: 21-15-19

  • Box Jumps 30/24
  • Kettlebell America Swings 70/53
  • Row for Calories

Open Workout 23.2 (predicted)

AMRAP 12 minutes

  • 6 Burpee Wall Walks
  • 9 Barbell Clean 135/95
  • 12 Toes 2 Bar

Open Workout 23.3 (predicted)

16 Minutes Complete
4 Rounds of 

  • 50 Wall Balls 20/14
  • 100 Double Unders

Then

3, 6, 9, 12, 15….

  • Dumbbell Thrusters 70/50
  • Rings Muscle-Ups
